Oakland Park is an Army Corps of Engineers park. The service at the main gate of the park is wonderful and the grounds seem to be clean and well kept. Oakland Park is connected to West Lake Park and the entry fee gets you access to both parks.
Oakland Park has a great boat ramp that sits in a quite cove. There are numerous covered picnic tables that previously were used for overnight camping. Camping is no longer allowed in this park.
This is a beautiful park that probably does not get the amount of use that it should. There are plenty of trees for shade and beach areas for fishing or swimming. There is also a playground for kids to play on.
One of the best features is that there are loaner life vests provided for public use inside Oakland Park. This is a great safety feature.
